Q: What are the hours of your range?
A: We are opened as follows:
Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 12pm-10pm
Wednesday: 12pm-10pm
Thursday: 12pm-6pm
Friday: 12pm-10pm
Saturday: 12pm-10pm
Sunday: 12pm-10pm
***The last shooter must arrive an hour and a half before closing time!***
Q: Is your range open to the public?
A: Yes! We have walk-in rates and memberships available. Our lanes are first come first serve, however our members do get first preference.
Q: Can I bring my own firearm / ammunition to the range?
A: Yes, you may bring your own firearm to shoot as well as factory ammo (no reloads). We require all firearms to be unloaded, in a secure case or be holstered until you are in a firing port. Please be sure to transport your firearm in accordance with NY State law. Please call with any questions.
Q: Can I bring a minor to the range?
A: Yes, Children 12 to 18 years old are welcome to shoot rifles with a parent or legally assigned guardian over the age of 21. Children 16 to 20 years old can shoot pistols with a parent provided that the pistol owner is properly licensed, and a NRA certified instructor is present, available and able to supervise the minor. For NRA Instructors’ availability please contact the range (914) 667-8236 prior to your Visit.
*Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the facility.
Q: What type of clothing is required to use the range? Do you have a dress code?
A: Yes, we have a dress code. Shooters need to wear closed-toed footwear and shirts that aren’t low cut to avoid getting burned by spent shell casings. Pants must be worn around waist.
Q: Are private lessons available?
A: Private lessons are available. If you wish to schedule a private lesson please contact us directly.
Q: I am from a different state/country. Can I still shoot at your range?
A: Yes, all you need is a valid government issued photo ID in order to use our range (passport, ID card, driver’s license, etc.). The ID must not be expired and the physical ID must be present (not a copy).
Q: Who can Rent Firearms?
A: Anyone with a state or government issued photo ID (License, Passport, etc.) that is physically present and not expired can rent rifles or shotguns. Unfortunately under NYS and Federal law, anyone with a felony that does not have a certificate of release/expungement, or sealment; may not handle any firearm.
Q: I have never shot before. Do I need to take a class?
A: While it is recommended, you do not need prior instruction in order to shoot at our range. In order to shoot a PISTOL in NY you do have to have a NY PERMIT. We do require that you take a short safety briefing, go through a vetting process, and fill out a waiver before using our facilities. We also offer private instruction and a wide variety of classes for everyone from first time to veteran shooters.
Q: Where can I find course pricing?
A: Course pricing is listed on the individual course registration page.
Q: Do you offer gun cleaning services?
A: Yes. We now offer gun cleaning services. Please contact us for further information.
Q: Do you offer gunsmith services?
A: Yes. We offer very limited on-site gunsmithing services.
Please inquire within.
Q: Do you transfer firearms from other dealers?
A: Our onsite gun store (RT Smoke n Gun) provides firearms transfers for a fee.
Q: Do you have a ladies night?
A: Please inquire within.
Q: Can pregnant women or nursing mothers attend a course?
A: Any woman who is pregnant for more than 3 weeks cannot enter the facility.
Pregnant women are encouraged to discuss their participation in firearms courses with their physicians prior to taking the course. You should discuss the effects of loud sounds and airborne lead particulate. If any students are pregnant or nursing an infant, they should not handle any chemicals, lubricants or solvents unless they have discussed doing so with their physician.
Q: As a member, can one of my guests use my privileges in the range if I am not present?
A: No, members must be present in order for anyone to have access to their privileges.
Q: Can I teach at your range?
A: Please inquire within.
Q: Do you offer any range discounts to Military?
A: Yes. 10% off of ammunition and a discounted lane fee for active military. Military ID required.
Q: Can I take photos or video while I am shooting in the range?
A: Yes photo, video or audio are allowed on premises as long as you are not handling a firearm. Please refrain from taking photos or videos of the instructors without their prior consent.
Q: Can my guest and I share one port?
A: No, each guest must shoot in their own port. We do not allow shared ports.
Q: Is the range handicapped accessible?
A: Unfortunatley, the range is not wheelchair accessible. However, the presence of a physical limitation or disability does not by itself affect a shooters’s eligibility to attend the range.
Q: Pioneer Shooting Center Cancellation Policy
A: COURSES: The Pioneer Shooting Center has a limited number of spaces available per training course. If you have scheduled a course online and need to cancel, you must contact us within 24 hours of the scheduled course. Properly cancelled courses may be rolled over to the next available course date. Should you not properly cancel your course, your enrollment will be considered a NO SHOW and your course will be cancelled without a refund.

Q: How do I enroll in a course?
A: Simply choose the course you would like and register for it directly on our webpage.
Q: What is the minimum age requirement to take courses?
A: The minimum age requirement for most courses is 18, provided that the student is mature and responsible, has the required positive attitude when handling firearms, and is able to follow along with the lessons and course materials. The student must successfully demonstrate the knowledge, which they have gained with safe gun handling skills, before moving on to the next stages of lessons. Pistol courses require that the applicant be 21 years of age
Q: What is the difference between a NRA Basic Pistol Course and Everyday Gun Handling?
A: The National Rifle Association (NRA) Basic Pistol Safety Course is a classroom instruction on the basic safety of pistol shooting. It is mandatory to successfully complete this course in order to obtain a pistol permit in Westchester County and many other counties in New York State. The Everyday Gun Handing Course is a 101-102 level course in gun handling skill and manipulation, basic knowledge necessary to safe gun handling, loading, firing and most important muzzle management. The student will find this course to be the perfect foundation. Students will also learn methods for concealed carry.
Q: Am I allowed to shoot my own firearm in a course?

Q: Can I pre-register for a course without paying a deposit?
A: When you register online you will be required to pay in full.
Q: Can I travel from another State (like NJ or CT) with my firearms to attend your courses?
A: You cannot bring a pistol into NY without a valid NYS pistol permit, unless the course is an officially sanctioned NRA event. You may bring a long gun to a course as long at it is NYS compliant. Please check with our staff if you have any questions.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to a firearms course?
A: Should you be required to bring anything to a course there will be a description on the course registration page. However, be sure to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing.
Q: How large are the group courses?
A: Each course has different class sizes predetermined by the instructor. However, Instructors prefer smaller sized classes, to guarantee each student the opportunity of personal one-on-one instruction during live-fire exercises.
Q: Will I receive a certificate after the course?
A: If the course you take is a certified course you will receive a certificate.
Q: What kind of participation is involved in a typical shooting course?
A: Students must demonstrate safe gun handling skills prior to participating in live-fire exercises.
Q: Am I able to take a course if I have a physical limitation or disability?
A: Some students will not be able to assume certain shooting positions (such as standing, kneeling or squatting shooting positions) because of physical limitations or disabilities. The presence of a physical limitation or disability does not by itself affect a student’s eligibility to attend the course or receive a certificate of completion. Most exercises may be adapted to work within each student’s range of motion/function. Regardless of the disability, all students must demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and understanding of the laws of the State pertaining to firearms use to receive a certificate of completion. It is important to notify the Instructor, prior to enrolling in a course, if you have any concerns, which may need to be addressed.
